Guard Guilherme Deodato (192-1991) notched 16 points to lead the effort and American guard Shaquille Johnson (191-1990, college: Marshall) supported him with 13 points. Even 27 points by American point guard Trey Burke (183-1992, college: Michigan) did not help to save the game for Astros. Cuban forward Yoanki Mencia (198-1997) added 14 points and 14 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game.

Five Boca Juniors players scored in double figures. Boca Juniors' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tomas Monacchi (198-1997) responded with 20 points and 7 rebounds and Italian-Argentinian point guard Gaston Whelan (187-1994) scored 13 points and 4 steals.
